Times Of The Male Bee. A male bee or drone generally somewhat of a bad press and women as often to highlight these defects of poor as creatures representative male generally gets. Of course, I am an impartial observer here and you, "dear reader" to judge by yourself.
Early life of a Drone
So a drone to come to the existence of "The Queen" mother must decide to lay non-fertilized egg, which means that this poor chap beginning life without a father, or to be more technical "haploid". This means however that there only a single set of chromosomes, those of his mother, the Queen. It is perhaps this pure line leads the ROAR to believe that he is a prince among its more humble worker sisters, all of occurrence of a wild "party coupling" their mother, the Queen, assisted in his reckless youth.
Before that the Queen may file its egg drone workers must disrupt uniformly formed cellular structure that they created on the comb to the hive, to prepare a cell that is slightly larger than those required for the young worker bee; the ROAR will remain in the cell for 3 days more than a young bee worker and grow much more great.
The drone egg will be hatched on day 3 in a larva, as do all bees worker eggs. Drone larva spent 7 days in the larval stage (6 days for a worker bee) during this time that it will be fed a mixture of pollen and nectar by his adult sisters. After 7 days drone larva develops into a pupa. The cell is then capped by worker bees with wax and pupal of drone rest there for 14 days, train to become a fully adult drone bee (12 days for a worker bee) trained day 24.
Adult life
The adult drone emerges from his cell and contrary to a newly born adult working bee it does not clean his cell at birth and then run the search after newly developed eggs and larva but seeks worker bees to feed. As an adult drone, he has never in her life and never goes out feed of nectar or pollen, or help build the hive.
Unique role of the drone life is to find a one-mated Queen and pass on its genes. Drones, once their wings are strong enough will exit on flights daily couplings, in the hope of finding a partner. As there are a drones more numerous than Queens potential, the majority of drone bees does not "a lucky" and will return after a few hours to their hive, or another because they are not too fussy as long as they are fed.
A drone was much larger eyes than a worker bee which allows him to identify his target on her mating flight. He also has a larger body with a more robust abdomen, it maintained course by his sisters of hard work...
However it should be noted that the rare occasions where the temperature in the hive gets too high then drones will join the worker bees in fanning with their wings to help things cool down, so of course it is unfair to say that they do nothing around the House.
Stinger of the worker bee is a modified ovipositor (an egg laying organ), drones, unlike the female workers are unable to defend the hive.
Death
Following his comfortable life a drone can live up to 90 days, the difference of 42 days of a worker. However the drone should be lucky in love, he will never return to the hive, but will die on the wing, as his penis and connected abdominal tissues are torn from his body during mating.
Still living drones of the hive late fall will not be able to see their days of quiet contentment. But will be attacked and thrown the hive by workers and left to die, and male bees do not overwinter.
.... and thus completes the life cycle of the male bee!
